SOCIALE bar & grille - Calgary AB:

Working alongside owner Witold Twardowski, Sociale Bar & Grille was approached as equal parts historic preservation and modern architecture on two distinct levels. Given the fact the City of Calgary along with the Province granted the (Loughheed Building) historical status, it was a challenge in itself to bring it back to its former glory and from there transform it into a unique functioning restaurant and bar. The concept then became clear, to keep an original 1920 speakeasy feel and juxtapose that with three modern glass backlit bars that gave the entire space an unmistakable contemporary twist that the city hasn't seen. Original terrazzo floors, rich hounds tooth fabric, velvet wallpaper, warm custom lighting and retro nickel fans all bring this space a level of comfort and sophistication that invites people down on even the coldest of winter days.
